41 Minister Schultz visits World Water Forum in Korea

From 9 to 14 April, Minister Schultz van Haegen of Infrastructure and the Environment will visit Korea. As Vice-Chair, she will be attending the meeting of the United Nations High Level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP). The Minister will also address the 7th World Water Forum and conduct bilateral talks with government representatives from various countries, including Myanmar, Korea and Indonesia.

42 Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will perform four times at Seoul Arts Center, starting on April 20.

43 EU Research and Innovation Day

The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea and the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea are co-organising the 1st EU Research and Innovation Day in the Conrad Hotel, Seoul, Korea on 25 March, 2015. In this event, EU Member States, including the Netherlands, and major EU research and innovation organisations will participate and share information with Korean counterparts about their policies, programmes and success stories.

44 World Water Forum

From 12-17 April 2015, the World Water Forum will take place in Daegu (business forum) and Gyeongju (ministerial conference). On behalf of the Netherlands, minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen of Infrastructure and the Environment will be the head of delegation. Parallel to the visit of the minister and her delegation, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) will lead a mission of the Dutch water sector.

45 Holland Scholarship encourages student mobility

Registration for the Holland Scholarship, the new Dutch scholarship programme, starts today. This programme will enable 768 talented international students annually to study for a bachelor's or master's degree in the Netherlands. In addition, 768 Dutch students will have the opportunity to study, take up an internship or carry out research in a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 months. The aim of the Holland Scholarship programme is to raise the profile of Dutch higher education and to encourage student mobility both into and out of the Netherlands.

46 Record number of international companies establish offices in Amsterdam

In 2014, 139 new international companies established offices in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. These companies brought a total of 1,308 jobs to the region and indicated that this would increase to 2,359 jobs within three years. In addition, international companies that had already established a presence in the region reported creating an additional 1,611 jobs in 2014.

47 Global Conference on CyberSpace 2015 (GCCS2015)

On 16 and Tuesday 17 April 2015, the Netherlands will host the Global Conference on CyberSpace 2015 (GCCS 2015). The conference will address the current and future challenges and opportunities presented by far-reaching digitisation. GCCS 2015 will take place in The Hague.

48 Eurogroup President to visit Korea

The President of the Eurogroup Mr. Jeroen Dijsselbloem will visit Seoul, Korea, on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 January 2015. During his visit he will meet high-level government and private sector officials/representatives, the EU Ambassador to Korea, investors, economists, and representatives of EU chambers of commerce in Korea. On Thursday from 7.30-9.00 President Dijsselbloem will deliver a public lecture at the Institute for Global Economics, where he will give his view on growth and economic developments in the Eurozone.

49 Donation to Thomas House

The Dutch Community in Korea donated KRW 10 million to the Thomas House in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul on December 12th. The Thomas House provides free luncheon to about 500 underprivileged people since 1993. About 20 volunteers from the Catholic church, companies and civic groups are providing assistance to the Thomas House.

50 National Commemoration of MH17

The national commemoration of the flight MH17 disaster will take place on Monday 10 November in Amsterdam. The commemoration is accessible by invitation only. The persons invited are the surviving relatives of the victims and persons involved in the air crash.
